Green Light for Affordable Housing on London RoadCity of Edinburgh Council has today (24th February) approved proposals for a much needed affordable housing development on the City’s London Road. City of Edinburgh Council has today (24th February) approved proposals for a much needed affordable housing development on the City’s London Road. The proposal, put forward by Hillcrest Housing Association will create 36 social rented homes on the site, and includes a range of accommodation, from wheelchair accessible flats to one bedroom apartments and family homes. Emma Hutchison, Development Manager at Hillcrest Housing Association said: “Hillcrest Housing Association is delighted that our proposals to help ease the city’s chronic affordable housing shortage have been approved. The requirement for such housing is now stronger than ever and like Housing Associations across the city, we are working hard to try and meet this demand. We have full Housing Association Grant (HAG) funding for this site, and hope that our contractors the Cruden Group can start work on the site as soon as possible, bringing completed high quality, sustainable social housing to Edinburgh by the end of 2011.”24th Feb 2010 by: Editor Select news from a previous month?
